The Charm of the Russian East: Rimsky-Korsakov and Mussorgsky led by Stanislav KOCHANOVSKY

It is certainly not a good year for the Academy of Santa Cecilia, in terms of ailments and subsequent defections: yet another is that of the famed Russian conductor Yuri Temirkanov, which was supposed to direct, in addition to this, even the next concert, all Brahms. In his place for today's concert, here is the elegant, dandy Stanislav Kochanovsky, conductor which has the task of not displease not only to the audience, but also to that of RaiRadio3 and Rai5. After the interval, the main dish: the sublime symphonic suite Scheherazade, Op. 35, the undisputed masterpiece of Rimsky-Korsakov and aesthetic manifesto of a movement that builds on Russian folklore and Arabic. The aristocratic gesture, feeling languid and poetic Kochanovsky emerge here at best: it gives the right time, with the left hand caress the clay model of the sound. The metaphor I immediately flashed to mind; and I hope it is not only seemed excellent to me his innate taste for the surrender of ornaments and musical sketches. [...]
